Who Mike is

Mike Stock is a Principal at Unity Design Studio and is a registered Architect in the province of Ontario.  Prior to his work as an Architect, Mike was trained in contract law and land transfers in Western Canada.  His combined experience assists clients in navigating projects from the initial agreements through to construction.

Mike has sat on various boards and sub-committees with the OAA and is currently a board member with the Peterborough and District Construction Association.

In his personal life Mike is a husband and enjoys exploring the country on his motorcycle, travelling, alpine skiing, and finding new renovation projects at home.

"Client-focused means exceeding expectations and nurturing lasting relationships beyond projects."

Why Mike Does it

Mike enjoys the camaraderie that comes from a successful project team: gaining the trust of clients and stakeholders, building a team culture and mindset with sub-consultants, and working with internal project teams to develop design solutions.  Mike finds inspiration for his work in working with a team that exceeds expectations.

What Mike Does

Mike provides strategic direction and oversight on projects within the Unity Studio.  He is responsible for undertaking the risk and liability on projects and establishing a set of policies and procedures to manage project documentation, finances, technology, and regulatory requirements of the practice.  Mike oversees the development of in-house standards and templates of best practice to improve the overall project quality.

Giving

To fulfill our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, every member of the Unity team has chosen an organization that aligns with their personal values and purpose. Unity has made a donation on behalf of each team member to their chosen organization.

Why Michael chose: Canadian Blood Services

“I have chosen to support the Canadian Blood Services (CBS) because their aid will be needed by over half of all Canadians. This means over 42,500 people in Peterborough, and at least twelve of us at Lett. I started donating after my grandfather passed away, and I am closing in on my 50th donation of whole blood and platelets. In addition to physical donations, CBS uses financial donations to advance research, expand its national supply, and fund mobile donation clinics. With the constant shortages, I think it’s important to rally our communities in which we design by becoming CBS Partners for Life, assisting in group donations, hosting a donation event, raising awareness, or starting a pledge.”
