Peterborough Animal Care Centre

Peterborough Animal Care Centre

At the beginning of the year, the Peterborough Humane Society relocated to their new home at the Peterborough Animal Care Centre on Technology Drive! This impressive 24,250 sq.ft building stands as one of Canada’s most advanced animal care facilities.

This new facility houses three important programs under one roof: the Peterborough Humane Society Adoption and Education Centre, the Peterborough Regional Spay/Neuter Clinic, and the Ontario SPCA & Humane Society Dog Rehabilitation Centre.

Since its opening, the Adoption and Education Centre has successfully found forever homes for numerous animals. Additionally, they've organized two PAWesome Kids Summer Camps for children aged 7-10 years old. These camps feature educational activities about animal care, building tours, visits with animals, as well as themed crafts and games!

In August, the Spay/Neuter clinic achieved a significant milestone - completing over 2,000 surgeries! These surgeries are crucial in preventing overpopulation and alleviating the strain on local shelters, contributing to the nationwide effort to address shelter capacity issues.

The Dog Rehabilitation Centre will serve as a destination for dogs from across the province, offering both behavioural and physical rehabilitation services using the building's shared assessment rooms and aqua-treadmill.

We are grateful to have had the opportunity to work on this project and immensely proud of the incredible work being done at the Peterborough Animal Care Centre. This new facility not only exemplifies the dedication of the Peterborough Humane Society but also showcases the generosity and support of our wonderful community.
