Peterborough Events Centre

Peterborough, Ontario

Developed to re-imagine the existing public works yard in Peterborough’s downtown, this concept design focuses on creating a destination with a new OHL arena, a convention centre, a hotel, a condominium and a new Via Rail train station. It also envisions the opening of Jackson Creek – a concept that Unity Design Studio has been promoting and facilitating throughout the downtown and with the City leaders.

The arena has been design to seat 6000 and also be used for large trade-show events. The convention centre is raised and sits above the train corridor allowing for gatherings of up to 2000 people. The hotel tower has an independent entrance but is also connected to the convention centre and arena. The condominium and train station are independent but integrated with the overall site.

People walk along the riverbank and up the stairs to the street where the event centre sits in the background.
Individuals paddle board down the creek, onlookers sit on concrete steps along the riverbank below the event centre.
