Who Meika is

Dedicated to designing meaningful spaces that resonate with joy, Meika brings over 25 years of architectural experience to every project. Particularly responsible for leading major cultural initiatives within the studio, her depth of knowledge is further enriched by a diverse background that spans from the US west coast to Ontario, where she's been a licensed Architect since 2014. Additionally, she holds a license in her home province of Nova Scotia.

Off the clock, Meika delves into the world of winemaking on her vineyard property, takes to the roads on her motorcycle, and enjoys serene hikes with her loyal hound.

“Architecture is a team sport. With a guiding coach and a unified team, the reward is a great building.”

What Meika Does

Meika has been at the forefront of overseeing substantial Institutional and Cultural projects throughout her career, spanning both local and international realms. Her approach is hands-on, guiding projects from their initial design phases through to their construction with unwavering dedication.

While she has honed her expertise in the realm of Performing Arts projects, Meika has also expanded her portfolio to include Aviation and Healthcare sectors in recent years.

Why Meika Does it

Meika's journey into architecture was serendipitous, guided by her university physics professor's gentle encouragement. Since that pivotal moment, she has never wavered in her commitment to the field. The greatest thrill for her remains the transformation of concepts, meticulously planned and refined over years, into vibrant, tangible structures. She finds immeasurable satisfaction in the art of creating places that radiate joy and meaning, knowing that they will stand as enduring testaments to her passion, to be experienced and cherished for decades and beyond.

Giving

To fulfill our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, every member of the Unity team has chosen an organization that aligns with their personal values and purpose. Unity has made a donation on behalf of each team member to their chosen organization.

“I chose to support the Plan International Canada - “Because I Am A Girl” program. In many countries around the world children, particularly girls, are considered one of the most vulnerable groups of people. Plan International’s focuses on issues such as; child marriage, gender-based violence, and a right to education. The group is committed to providing girls with opportunities for a healthy and safe childhood that they would otherwise not experience simply because of their gender.”
